Water Efficiency
Increasing water efficiency and reducing water waste to save on utility costs and care for one of Colorado’s most precious natural resources.
Water Efficiency
Water efficiency measures are always incorporated as a part of our evaluation process to discover opportunities that may exist for water system management improvements that have been shown to save significant amounts of water and money through efficiency, meter accuracy, usage reductions, and leak detection.
Many of our clients are conscious of their water usage, not just to save on utility costs, but also to better protect Colorado’s natural environment. Between population growth and droughts, it is on every Coloradan to do their part to save water and reduce waste wherever possible.
Our team of water audit experts include water efficiency measures in reports to drive immediate savings in our water efficiency process. We develop a preliminary list of potential energy and water saving measures as well as water management recommendations.
Our Approach
The Iconergy team regularly documents and implements water efficiency opportunities for our clients. Our typical approach is as follows:
Preliminary Assessment
The first step of any water efficiency project is a preliminary assessment of needs and opportunities. This includes meeting with the client, collecting historic information on the facilities, and performing the initial walk-through interviewing those that work at the facilities.
Establish Baseline of Usage
The Iconergy team will then analyze each measure using utility data to establish the base year consumption and savings potential. We encourage key staff to provide feedback to prioritize which measures are most relevant and should move forward to deeper analysis.
Prioritize Measures to Implement
We will incorporate facility information and collect all additional data and background information regarding operations, water consumption, and history of the facility, systems operations, major equipment records, and any future plans as needed to finalize the list of potential improvement measures.
Partner with Facilities and Maintenance Personnel
We work closely with our clients to ensure that we accurately understand all operational issues and requirements for each of the potential measures.
Report Findings and Recommendations
This report contains the recommended improvement measures along with the cost, savings and payback using established industry standards and engineering best practices to ensure accuracy and reduce the risk to deliver a project that will meet and exceed requirements.
Project Simple Payback
The measures will be combined in a proforma the financial variables for the project such as rebates, capital funding, financing levels, financing term, as well as propose scenarios and project scopes to show payback and performance for the various combinations.
Typical Water Efficiency Recommendations
Domestic Water Systems
Our team will evaluate water fixture replacements for any fixtures that have not already been replaced with low flow designs. Many of these systems include water consuming systems, such as restroom fixtures (faucet aerators, low flow showers, toilets, urinals), kitchens, controls, water fountains, irrigation systems (timer), high efficiency fixtures, cooling tower optimization, and evapotranspiration systems.
Recreational Pools
Recreational pools are the heart of many communities. Our team looks to reduce water evaporation by making sure that pools are covered and that the HVAC is functioning properly for indoor spaces.
Irrigation System Improvements
Modern irrigation controls are cloud-based software programs that provides real-time visibility and control from an Internet browser on any device. Whether being at a desk or working the grounds, it is possible to program a single site or a portfolio of sites, monitor performance, be alerted to issues and track asset inventories from anywhere.
AMI Water Meters
For many of our clients, it is necessary to update water meters to smarter systems that track usage more accurately and will inform clients of leaks or bursts. Click here to learn more about our AMI Water Meter services and projects our team have completed.
Reduce Water Waste for Your Building, Campus, or Municipality
Whether you own a small building or are responsible for a large portfolio of buildings, our team is ready to perform a water audit and consulting services to reduce water waste and increase efficient use.
Water is one of our most precious natural resources and we want to help make sure your facility usage is optimal.
